“We are talking about a great champion,” the Argentine told Sky Sport Italia. “He’ll bring a new stimulus with him.

“We know him well and we are aware of his class. Let’s hope that we can fight for major honours with him in the team.

“He’ll find a squad here who will give him a warm welcome.”

This summer has been one of great change for Milan and Inter who have both waved goodbye to some stellar veterans.

“There is the desire to make up for last season’s disappointments,” continued the 39-year-old Inter legend.

“The title? Juventus are certainly the team to beat, they won the Scudetto, they haven’t changed too much and they have great faith in their abilities.

“I also think that Roma will do well, they have an intelligent Coach in Zdenek Zeman who already knows the environment.

“Milan, like us, have changed a lot, while we shouldn’t forget Napoli…”
