Inter captain Javier Zanetti has applauded Luc Castaignos after he scored a late winner in the 1-0 at Siena on Sunday.

The Dutch striker, 19, netted the first Serie A goal of his career following his summer move from Feyenoord.

“Luc is a very shy boy and reserved, but who's settling in very well to the group,” the veteran told Inter Channel.

“We mustn't forget that he's a foreigner, he has to learn the language and get a feel for the place,” he added.

“However, I think these young lads will contribute a lot because they are fitting in gradually and in spite of being forced to work under pressure, they were able to put their heads down and come out on top.”

The Nerazzurri, despite collecting the three points, struggled to impress in Tuscany on Sunday afternoon.

“Siena is a difficult place to play in and we struggled a bit during the match, but wins like these are good for confidence,” the South American continued.

“We just have to keep it up, and we know we can't drop any more points.

“It was all down to a good Siena display as they waited patiently and didn't allow us much space. Our team were convinced about winning right up to the last minute. We are improving.

“We beat Cagliari, we are leaders in our Champions League group and today we deserved to win because we didn't take any risks against a team that can play well.”
