Maurizio Zamparini is seeking new investors in Palermo, whilst warning that the Rosanero can’t get carried away after beating Milan.

The club President had previously admitted to meeting with Mexican investors as he attempts to find new sources of capital.

Whilst now looking to distance himself from such comments –  describing them as “rumours started by newspapers – the patron has admitted he is seeking new investors.

“I’m looking for new board members,” Zamparini confessed to Radio Sportiva.

“Not to sell up, but to put in capital and make Palermo stronger.

“There is interest, but people are worried about investing in Italy, because it’s not a state governed by law, Italy is a country of petty demagoguery.

“If someone does come along it’s because they have confidence in Zamparini, not in Italy.”

The Rosanero recorded their best result of the season on Sunday night, defeating Milan 2-0 at San Siro, and while Zamparini acknowledges the potential of the club, the patron is wary of getting carried away.

“You always have fear in Serie A. The Palermo of two years ago was as strong as the current side.

“We had Kurtic, Ilicic and Hernandez but we went to Serie B. We’re seeing it this season, with Parma who have had a difficult start despite having a great team.

“This is not to detract from the ambition of Palermo. I don’t feel inferior to Sampdoria or Genoa.

Fiorentina are a little ahead of us because they have a very good coach and experienced players.

“We’re trying to understand who we are, finding our feet in Serie A.

“When we find what it takes to be strong then we can do anything. At the moment the Genoese teams [Sampdoria in third and Genoa in fifth] have had all the luck.

“Everyone saw Sampdoria on the first day of the season here in Palermo [a 1-1 draw], we could easily be in their place.”
