Tottenham Hotspur’s Fabio Paratici is among the directors who could face a lengthy ban in the capital gains trial that began in Rome today.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paratici was allegedly responsible for signing 32 contracts with inflated transfer values during the final years of his spell at Juventus. Paratici had been named chief of the sports area at the Allianz Stadium after Beppe Marotta’s exit in October 2018.

Paratici allegedly completed several swap deals registering new players worth a certain amount, even when the actual transfer market value of the players was far less.

Prosecutor demands fines and suspensions for Juve and Napoli in capital gains trial

The FIGC prosecutor has requested a ban of 16 months and 10 days for the 49-year-old who left Juventus last summer to join Tottenham Hotspur.

He is not the only Juventus director involved in the trial, as the prosecutor demanded suspensions also for Maurizio Arrivabene, Pavel Nedved, Federico Cherubini and president Andrea Agnelli.

Likewise, Juventus are not the only team involved in the case. Napoli, Genoa, Sampdoria and Empoli are also suspected of having inflated the transfer value of some of their footballers with swap deals. Pisa and Parma are the Serie B clubs involved in the trial and the same is true of Serie C’s Pro Vercelli and Pescara.

A final verdict is expected by mid-May, but according to Il Corriere della Sera, the judge’s decisions could be known already by the end of the week.
