Despite a season-ending injury, Federico Chiesa has been included in the Juventus Champions League list as clubs can register a maximum of three new players for the knock-out phase.

The Old Lady was quite busy in the January transfer window, signing the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Denis Zakaria and Federico Gatti.

The latter will remain on loan at Frosinone until the end of the campaign, but both Vlahovic and Zakaria are expected to play a key role for the Serie A giants in the second part of the campaign.

Juventus Champions League squad adds Vlahovic and Zakaria, ignores Kaio Jorge

Both of them have been included in Juventus’ Champions League squad list, replacing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, who joined Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Luca Pellegrini was also included in the list replacing new Rangers signing Aaron Ramsey.

The Italy full-back had been left out of the Juventus squad for the Champions League group stage but has got decent game time under his belt in the first part of the campaign playing nine Serie A games so far.

Therefore, Chiesa is still part of the Champions League list even if he won’t return to action before next season, while Kaio Jorge was once again left out of the squad.

Juventus will face Villarreal in the Round of 16, with the first leg in Spain on February 22.

  1. Where is answer, because if win… Chiesa should be part of celebration, thats it. And its clear that brazilian is worth nothing today and cant help nowhere on field

  2. Hey Brandon, it’s because only three changes can be made. Remember, Kaio Jorge was NOT in the UCL list for the group stages either. Kaio and Luca Pellegrini were left out. So it’s not like he was there and then was removed.

So the three changes are IN: Vlahovic, Zakaria, Pellegrini…OUT: Ramsey, Bentancur, Kulu.

If Kaio was added, that would be a fourth change – and that’s not allowed. So Chiesa remains on the list.

  3. Put yourself in Kaio Jorge shoes, I’m healthy but manager don’t want include me, instead include someone who’s injured, he will lose faith in the management and the people handling the club, no wonder juve are what they are now, wrong people making wrong decisions over and over again, the one who can’t help nowhere on the field is the one that is injured @FORZA juve

  4. So it’s a moot article then which leads me to wonder why the hell you even posting this????? Pretty stupid sorry.

  5. @Interisti you’re so dense…
I know you Inter fans are not the brightest but I would expect you at least know how to count to 4

  6. Crappy rule. Should either have an exemption for injured players, or an exemption for new transfers. Either way, another example of UEFA’s incompetence.

  7. While it sucks their is the 3 player limit, it is better that they are not cup tied as in the past January transfer moves used to be. For those youngsters, if you played a game for another club in champions or Europa in the group stage, you weren’t allow to play for your new team if you were transferred in January

  8. Interisti
You are a typical prInter fan. Math was never a strong side of yours. I don’t even want to waist my time explaining this to you.

  9. The article specifically says: only 3 changes can be allowed. Kaio Jorge would be fourth. Come on people it’s not a rocket science!!!

  10. @Interisti: I haven’t read something so dumb since Ausilio’s press release of his acquisition of Dodo for 9 million Euros! In case you don’t know, you are only allowed 3 changes in the CL list – Vlahovic, Zakaria and Pellegrini – I would say ta Allegri made the right choice.

  11. Lorenzo why are my comments not shown here? There is no content that should be censored in them.

Are you also a juventus supporter?

  12. @i miss Marco branca

I already say it’s my bad that I miss out on the max 3 players part
I even put out my hand 🙋‍♂️ And admit it

Which part of my English do u not understand?
