Former Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is ‘looking forward to learning from Antonio Conte’ and believes he ‘will improve even more’ under the ex-Inter coach.

Bentancur joined Tottenham in a permanent €19m move from Juventus in the January transfer window.

The deal comes with potential €6m add-ons for the Bianconeri.

Bentancur was on international duty when Spurs completed his signing and released his first interview with Tottenham’s official website from Uruguay.

“It’s a great club with great players, always competing in all competitions,” he said.

“I was very happy when I heard about the interest in me and thankfully I’ve joined now.”

Kulusevski admits Conte played a key role in his move to Tottenham

Just like Dejan Kulusevski, who also switched the Bianconeri with Tottenham in January, Bentancur admits that one of the reasons why he moved to North London was to work with Antonio Conte.

“I am looking forward to learning from Antonio Conte,” the 24-year-old said.

“I think he’s a great coach, he wants to win and gets 150 per cent out of his players. I think he’ll make me improve even more, both mentally and as a player. I like that, and it’s a big motivation for me.”

Bentancur joined Juventus from Boca Juniors in a €15m deal in 2017. He played 181 games and scored three goals during his four and a half years spell in Turin.

  1. Can I ask FI, why is Conte anything to do with the Azzurri. He is Tottenham’s coach and no longer to do with Italy so it is quite frustrating that you do this! Quite frankly, I just do not get it. Please stick to present day Azzurri representatives. Thanks
