Roko Simic has become a star in UEFA’s premier youth competition, frustrating for a Milan side that missed out on his signature.

The 18-year-old Croatian forward has been on fire whilst on loan with FC Liefering this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in eight Youth League appearances. He was snapped up by RB Salzburg last summer, who paid Lokomotiva Zagreb €4m for his signature.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Milan were incredibly keen to sign Simic last summer and they intensified their contacts with Lokomotiva Zagreb, hoping to take advantage of the fact that his father Dario works there as a scout.

Unfortunately for the Rossoneri, they missed out to RB Salzburg, who offered a clear project and path to the first team, using the example of Erling Haaland.

Milan are still keeping a close eye on Simic, possibly preparing to return for him once he’s developed a little more.
