Il Corriere dello Sport claims José Mourinho is in a hurry to meet Roma owners and discuss his future at the Stadio Olimpico, but the Special One wants guarantees in terms of new signings and has identified three priorities for the summer.

Mourinho’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2024, but reports in Italy claim he could leave earlier if the club fail to fulfil his requests.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma owners are taking time before meeting the coach and discussing his future at the club.

“It’s mid-February, do you think the club will talk to me in June? I guess it would be too late,” Mou said last month, replying to a question on when he’d meet the Friedkins.

“I don’t expect anything, they know what they can expect from me.”

The Rome-based paper claims Mourinho’s stay is a priority for Roma owners, although the Special One has been particularly demanding regarding new signings.

The Giallorossi welcomed Nemanja Matic, Paulo Dybala, and Andrea Belotti on free transfers and loaned Gini Wijnaldum from PSG last summer. Their most expensive purchase was Zeki Celik from Lille for €7m.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi will again operate following Financial Fair Play restrictions this coming summer, so it remains to be seen if they can satisfy Mourinho’s requests.

Sky Sport Italia claims the Portuguese wants a new central midfielder, a central defender who can build up from the back and a centre forward to replace Tammy Abraham, who will likely return to the Premier League at the end of the season.
