Roma striker Romelu Lukaku joins Juventus duo Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot at the top of the list of the highest paid players in Serie A this season.

An analysis by TMW revealed that 14 players in the Italian topflight earn at least €5m net per season, showing that Serie A can compete for some star players alongside Europe’s top leagues.

Two teams dominate this list of 14 players – Juventus and Inter, who both have six representatives each on the rankings. The other two players come from Roma and Milan, being stars Lukaku and Rafael Leao respectively.

An analysis of the overall wage bill of Serie A teams revealed the highest spenders to be Juventus with €74.1m net and Inter with €71.7m. Roma came third with €68.6m.

The Old Lady are working to reduce their wage bill and move in a more sustainable direction, whilst the Nerazzurri’s financial health is slowly starting to recover, although a debt of over €300m must be paid to US financers Oaktree by May of next year.
