On the day of his retirement, Francesco Totti symbolically transferred the captain’s armband over to a child in the Roma youth academy, and today that kid scored a stunner for the club.
The boy’s name is Mattia Almaviva, he was born in 2006 and just celebrated his 17th birthday.
Roma’s social media account showed the two images side by side, Totti handing over the armband in May 2017 at the Stadio Olimpico along with the spectacular strike that flew under the bar from distance.
It was the kind of goal Totti would be proud of.
