Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri paused Lazio training to ask supporters to stop jeering defender Francesco Acerbi.

The Italy international has become figure of hate among a section of Lazio supporters and has been linked with moves to Juventus, Inter and Milan this summer.

However, he is still a Lazio player and Sarri has asked supporters to show him respect.

The clip shows him pause training and march over to a group of supporters to remonstrate while clapping can be heard from another section.

  1. putuco I still remember the videos of your fans after last game against Sasuolo, punching each other, showing the ”intelligence” you are known for. LOL

  2. Acerbi has a long history of doing things that annoy the ultras, and it has just accumulated more and more over time, while Acerbi has shown little interest in fitting in. He is a character, and when you repeatedly show low level disrespect, then eventually it will add up to major disrespect. Personally I do not have a problem, because it is part of his persona, and his type of persona can often be very popular amongst our ultras, but he just ran out of credit, and failed to apologise quick enough and properly, when he did something actually bad.
Until this last season, everything has been forgivable, because he was just a good enough player to get away with it. Now he has struggled in Sarri’s system last season, and now the good fails to outweigh the bad. Because it has been about 3 years or something since some of the ultras started to get tired of his antics.
Had he left a year ago, then we would have happy memories of him, and he would be a celebrated player. Now his legacy is becoming complex, and he will likely be the main source of hate for the Curva, whenever he plays for or against Lazio. Even more than if Muriqi stays in the club next season.
Lazio is a special club, and certain things are expected of players. Acerbi did not deliver. In Nortern Italy he will probably be more protected and appreciated. I hope for him that he ends up in Juventus, Milan, or Inter, because he would have the space to shine. You do not get that space and protection in Lazio, and if you cannot handle that as a player, then you have no business in Rome.
