Arturo Vidal’s proposed transfer to Inter has reportedly been put on hold due to the Nerazzurri’s sudden pursuit of Luka Modric.

The San Siro club are reportedly confident of landing the Croatia captain, who is set to hold talks over his future with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez this weekend.

Inter are thought to have already struck a deal with Bayern Munich to sign Chile midfielder Vidal for around €20m.

And although the club still want to bring in the 31-year-old, Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Milan side need guarantees that they will be able to offload players in the event they are able to sign both Modric and Vidal.

Former Juventus man Vidal is widely thought to have agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri over a return to Serie A.

The transfer had been expected to be confirmed at the weekend, but the deal now appears to have been put on hold until after Modric’s talks with Perez.
