Milan midfielder Daniel Maldini’s proposed move to Verona appears in doubt, according to reports in Italy.

Despite interest from other Serie A clubs, reports in Italy had suggested Daniel and father Paolo had liked the opportunity at Verona most.

However, Tuttosport suggest the arrival of Alessandro Cortinovis coupled with Verona’s need to offload before brining in any more players mean Maldini’s chances of making the move have diminshed.

The situation could lead to Spezia or newly promoted Cremonsese reigniting their interest, the report adds.

Maldini has made 24 appearances since making his senior-team debut in 2020.

Last season, while only playing eight times in total en route to Milan’s Serie A title victory, he made a telling contribution with a goal in the 2-1 victory at Spezia.

His father Paolo made 902 appearances for the Rossoneri over a 25-year span while grandfather Cesare played 412 times for Milan during his 12 seasons at the club.
