Jordan Veretout has lost his starting spot in Rome and he’s destined to leave Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the summer.

The 29-year-old Frenchman started almost every Serie A match under the Portuguese coach in the first half of this season, only missing a game due to a yellow-card suspension. Since the arrival of Sergio Oliveira in January, however, things have taken a negative turn.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Veretout has only started a Serie A match once since Oliveira’s arrival in the January transfer window, playing 68 minutes of the win over Spezia. The Frenchman is hoping to start against Napoli on Monday evening, looking to show off his skills ahead of a sale in the summer.

Veretout’s contract renewal has been on hold for months and it’s clear now that it won’t be finalised, meaning that he needs to prepare to look around for a new club. Roma want around €15m for his signature and a deal could likely be closed for €13m plus add-ons. Milan are keen to pick him up in the summer and Olympique Marseille have also set their sights on him.
