Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, at the same time when a number of top Serie A clubs will look to find new head coaches.

The Bavarian giants announced this week that the 50-year-old German coach would be leaving the club in the summer, a year ahead of his contract’s expiration date. The move came after the club’s painful 3-2 loss to VfL Bochum, a result that leaves them eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Tuchel’s Bayern also failed to impress in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie with Lazio, falling 1-0 in Rome after a Ciro Immobile penalty in the second half, pilling on the pressure ahead of the return leg next month.

TvPlay.it examined the idea of seeing Tuchel at an Italian club in the summer, with a number of top Serie A sides expected to make changes in the dugout.

Starting with Napoli, it’s clear that Francesco Calzona will leave his post at the end of this season, prompting Aurelio De Laurentiis to find a replacement. He may be wary of Tuchel, however, considering his history with established coaches like Rafa Benitz and Carlo Ancelotti.

Roma are another club who could turn to the German coach in the summer, should they decide to not stick with Daniele De Rossi despite his fairly bright start. The recent work of Jose Mourinho could push the Giallorossi to try and make a move.

Milan will likely say goodbye to Stefano Pioli at the end of the season and are seemingly focusing on Bologna’s Thiago Motta, but Tuchel could emerge as a possible high-profile alternative.  Juventus look less probable, seemingly planning to stick with Massimiliano Allegri for the time being.

One major problem all the Italian clubs will face is the hefty salary commanded by Tuchel; he currently earns around €12m per season with Bayern, figures that obviously can’t be matched in Serie A.
