Roma captain Francesco Totti hopes the game against Feyenoord won't be a repeat of the Euro 2000 Final in Rotterdam.

Er Pupone's first tournament with the Azzurri saw him losing 2-1 to France in the European Championship Final after defending a 1-0 lead until the 93' minute.

However, the captain is not dwelling on that heading into his return to the city with Roma for their Europa League Round of 32 return leg.

“I was discussing this with the Coach. It's not a very pleasant memory,” considered Totti to reporters.

However, the captain is not dwelling on that heading into his return to the city with Roma for their Europa League Round of 32 return leg.

“I was discussing this with the Coach. It's not a very pleasant memory,” considered Totti to reporters.

“The Euro Final is always a privilege as these games are sculpted in history, but I'm hoping for a different result tomorrow.”

The 38-year-old was asked about Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni's statements, as he said that Roma would be fine even without a striker as long as they had Totti.

“I think Toni was joking. It's just a saying we have in Rome: if I'm here, then I play.

“If [someone like iconic Roma striker Gabriel] Batistuta showed up, then that's fine.

“But we've got the Coach to make these decisions, and if he wants me to play, then it means I earned it.”

Totti was also asked about the clashes that took place before the first leg of the Roma-Feyenoord game.

“I enjoy myself on the pitch. But of course things look different from the outside.

“They should take the lead from Greece, where the championship was stopped.

“Measures should be taken and clubs should be fined, but nothing like that is ever going to happen in Italy.”
