Tottenham have offered Juventus more than Aston Villa for midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur in a bid to secure their first January signing.

The Lillywhites are desperate to bring in some reinforcements before this month’s transfer window closes on Monday, with their focus on a number of their targets like Adama Traore and Franck Kessie not paying off.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham have submitted an offer to Juventus with higher figures and a different formula to the one recently sent in by Aston Villa, who offered around €25m plus add-ons for the Uruguayan midfielder, on the basis of a loan deal with a buy option attached.

Tottenham’s offer is likely to be more convincing to Juventus, especially if their offer includes an obligation or conditional obligation to buy clause. The Bianconeri are working to sign Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach and concluding this deal would allow them to push forward for the Swiss midfielder.

Coach Antonio Conte is expecting some reinforcements in this month’s transfer window, so Fabio Paratici will have to work hard to please the Italian coach in the few days remaining in this month’s transfer window.

  1. The problem with Spurs signing any player is THE LEVY FACTOR.- wasting time before making a proper bid for a player, arguing over the final settlement figure which might be only a few million, expecting Antonio Conte to carry on with no new signings even though he knows we urgently need hem.- Levy is Spurs worst enemy.
