Spanish media claim Atletico Madrid are ready to welcome Fernando Torres back after just six months at Milan.

The striker has scored just one goal in Serie A this season and been repeatedly dropped in favour of Jeremy Menez.

He is on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea, but CEO Adriano Galliani did not rule out an early departure. “The market is unpredictable,” was his response.

Now Sky Sport Spain insist Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing Torres back to the club he starred at from 2000 to 2007.

However, Atleti are not prepared to pay a transfer fee and the terms of the deal with Milan prevent him from being loaned again.

It is therefore up to Torres to negotiate a contract termination by mutual consent with Chelsea, making him a free agent.

Torres has a contract until June 2016, which is also when the loan deal with Milan expires.
