Luca Toni announced he will retire at the end of the season. “I think the time has come to stop.”

The striker will turn 39 in May 2016 and was joint Capocannoniere last term with Inter’s Mauro Icardi on 22 Serie A goals.

“I think the time has come to stop,” Toni told Sky Sport Italia.

“I hope to celebrate it by keeping Verona safe in Serie A.”

It will be difficult, as Hellas are propping up the table and the only side still without a victory after 15 rounds.
