Sandro Tonali has always “dreamed of being coached by Gennaro Gattuso” at Milan, but wants to bring Brescia into Serie A first.

The 18-year-old has already received a call-up for the senior Italy squad and was linked with most big clubs in Italy and Europe, including Juventus, Inter, Napoli, Roma, Manchester United and Chelsea.

“I have not thought about my future yet. I hope to have a great season and get into Serie A with Brescia,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s very pleasing that so many clubs are tracking me and it helps me realise that I’ve been doing well, but first I have to achieve the objective I set myself at the start of the season, to get Brescia promoted. Only after that will I think about other things.”

When asked about his heroes and who he’d like to work with, Tonali did drop some hints.

“I would love to be coached by Gattuso, it is something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a child. The player I appreciate the most nowadays is Luka Modric, as I really like the way he plays.

“I wouldn’t know which midfielder to compare myself to, because I’ve had a few different roles. Last year, I was more of a defensive midfielder, while this term I can vary my position in midfield.”

Tonali’s Italy Under-19 international teammate Nicolò Zaniolo is achieving extraordinary things at Roma this term.

“I know him well, as we were teammates for the Nazionale. He’s a lovely lad and so talented. I wish him all the best,” added Tonali.
