Former Juventus and Barcelona defender Lilian Thuram admits his son Marcus, who has been linked with a move to Inter, ‘dreams’ of joining the Catalans.

The former Juventus and Barça defender spoke to RAC1 about his son’s future, whose contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expires this coming June.

The France international is not planning to leave in January and has been linked with a free transfer to Inter, Chelsea or Barcelona.

“I want the best for him and his brothers, it would be a dream for Marcus to play for Barça,” said Thuram, as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “If you give me the contract, I can sign it already,” he jokingly added.

“In any case, the priority is not to stop his development and that he continues to improve as a footballer.”

Thuram Jr. has scored 13 goals in 18 appearances at a club level this season and was part of the France squad that reached the World Cup Final in Qatar this past December.

He was born on August 6, 1997, in Parma because his father Lilian was playing for the Ducali at that time. A 1998 France World Cup winner, Lilian Thuram joined Juventus in 2001, leaving Turin five years later after the Calciopoli scandal, joining Barcelona.

He played with a young Xavi at Camp Nou and the ex-midfielder could now become the coach of his son.

“Barcelona are slowly becoming a team again. I am happy for Barcelona and Xavi that they are La Liga leaders. Xavi is very young but will win many titles,” concluded Thuram.
