According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Jordan Veretout will leave Roma at the end of the season after a meeting with José Mourinho, where he reportedly said he’d not play without a new contract.

The France international has fallen in Mourinho’s pecking order this season, but more off-the-pitch issues suggest he will leave the Stadio Olimpico in the summer.

His former agent Mario Giuffredi had reached an agreement to extend his contract with Roma beyond 2024. Giuffredi had agreed on a new €3.5m-a-year salary for the former Fiorentina man, who then changed his economic demands by asking for a new €6m-a-year contract. Giuffredi parted ways with the 29-year-old and, according to the report, he even sued the midfielder.

According to the report, Veretout has also spoken to Mourinho, telling him that he would no longer play for Roma without a new contract.

But there are more problems for the former midfielder. His wife admitted to having organised her birthday party despite being positive for COVID. Roma announced a new Coronavirus case in their team two days ago without naming the footballer who has caught it.

Milan and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with signing Veretout in January and according to the report, Roma will sell their midfielder for a fee close to €10m in the summer.
