Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic promises he will play ‘the best team possible’ in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia clash with Perugia.

The Rossoneri’s season is getting underway early, with last season’s ninth-place finish seeing them enter the cup at the third round stage.

“Tomorrow the new season begins, so it’s not enough just to look good,” Mihajlovic said in his pre-match Press conference.

“In the words of [Juventus legend Giampiero] Boniperti ‘winning is the only thing that matters’. We’ll try to play well in the manner of a big team against a small one, because it’s in the DNA of Milan.

“I’m not promising backheels and nutmegs, I want an aggressive team which makes as few mistakes as possible. We want to win the trophy, especially this year as we’re not in Europe.

“Tomorrow I’ll play the best Milan possible. [Rodrigo] Ely and [Alessio] Romagnoli will be the central defence tomorrow.

I’ll tell the lads that every game must be played like a final, that has to be our mentality.

“We have to get used to being favourites against every team we play. When you’re in that position, you have to get out on the pitch, play well and win.

“I hope tomorrow will be entirely down to us, with all due respect to Perugia. It will be a battle, but if we play as we know we can then we’ll only be satisfied with victory.”
