Udinese coach Andrea Sottil explains where Destiny Udogie needs to improve in the second part of the season and ahead of his move to Tottenham in the summer.

The U21 Italy international played 70 minutes at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus today. Football Italia was among the accredited media in Turin and asked Sottil where Udogie needs to improve ahead of his transfer to Tottenham in June.

“He is an extraordinary player, he must focus on the defensive phase and, sometimes, be quicker in crossing the ball without touching it too many times,” said the coach.

“Today, he could play for a limited time. He must be handled carefully because he suffered a tricky injury. He had a problem against Empoli and he managed to recover for tonight, but he couldn’t play the whole game. He is physically powerful and has improved a lot.”

Udogie signed with Tottenham last summer, completing an €18m transfer. However, he has remained on loan at the Dacia Arena until the end of the season.

He has scored two goals and delivered two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.

He was the most prolific U21 player in Italy in 2022.

Juventus secured their eighth successive victory in Serie A without conceding against Udinese and have moved four points below leaders Napoli who have a game in hand.

Udinese have earned 25 points so far, but the last time they won a league match was in October.
