Inter boss Simone Inzaghi explains why Romelu Lukaku starts on the bench against Monza tonight.
The Belgian striker was expected to start at the U-Power Stadium, but Inzaghi has picked Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko instead.
“Lautaro has been training well since his return and is fit. Romelu starts on the bench, but his condition is improving, I will manage him in the best way.”
Dzeko is Inter’s best scorer this season and helped the Nerazzurri secure a 1-0 win over Napoli on Wednesday, scoring the winner.
However, his future at the club remains in doubt as his contract expires in the summer.
“We know what he represents for us, he is doing great and I am lucky enough to have a solid club, that always backs me.
“They will try to find the best solution for all the players we have.”
