Genoa confirm Salvatore Sirigu has left the Italy camp due to flu symptoms, but has tested negative for COVID-19.

The Azzurri will play Northern Ireland in the final 2022 World Cup qualifier on Monday at 19.45 GMT.

Sirigu did not make the trip to Belfast this morning, as he left the training camp.

A statement from Genoa confirms this was because the goalkeeper was suffering from cold and flu symptoms.

However, he has tested negative for COVID-19.

He will now return to Genoa and resume training ‘as soon as possible.’

Italy are decimated for the Northern Ireland match, as after the 1-1 draw with Switzerland, they lost Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Calabria, Cristiano Biraghi and Sirigu.

Atalanta full-back Davide Zappacosta was a last-minute addition to the squad.
