Gordon Singer, Managing Partner at Elliott, joked he ‘invited the referees’ to the Milan Foundation event today. ‘But I don’t see them’.
The controversial Champions League match at San Siro against Atletico Madrid ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Rossoneri.
Referee Cuneyt Cakir was at the centre of attention during the big game on Tuesday, when Franck Kessie was sent off during the first half and Atletico were awarded a penalty in stoppages of the second.
Singer, the son of the founder of the American fund Elliott Management, introduced the Milan Foundation today and joked he had invited the match officials.
“I also invited the referees to be here with us,” he said, according to MilanNews editor Antonio Vitiello. “But I don’t see them.”
