Siena President Massimo Mezzaroma is hoping to convince boss Giuseppe Sannino to stay at the club for 2012-13.

The 54-year-old has had an impressive first campaign in top-flight football and he’s been linked with bigger clubs.

“Sannino deserves Serie A,” Mezzaroma noted. “He’s continued the work of Antonio Conte, but he’s also added a lot of his own ideas.

“Next season? I don’t want to start a tradition of launching tacticians and then letting them go elsewhere.

“I think that Sannino wants to stay with us for at least one more season.”

The Tuscan minnows are currently 14th in the Division – seven points above the drop zone with 11 games left.

Sannino joined the club in the summer from Varese after Juventus recruited Conte following their promotion from Serie B.
