Lazio’s Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem has been handed a two-game suspension for the red card he picked up at the weekend.

The 31-year-old was dismissed on Sunday evening minutes before the half-time break in his team’s eventual 3-1 defeat at home to Bologna.

Whilst he protested his innocence at the time for the accidental nature of the movement in catching his opponent in the face, the sporting authorities have seen fit to hand him a two-match ban.
