Check out today’s latest news, updates and rumours from the Serie A transfer market, including the most recent information on Lautaro Martinez’s contract extension with Inter, and former Roma and Napoli centre-back Kostas Manolas’ signing for relegation-threatened Salernitana

The Serie A transfer window officially closed at 19.00 on February 1, but clubs can still sign free agents and are still able to move players on to other nations where their transfer windows remain open.

Serie A clubs will also hope to tie a few of their players down to new and improved contracts, especially Inter who are in the midst of negotiations over a renewal for captain and leading goalscorer Lautaro Martinez.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, ‘El Toro’ is requesting a salary in the region of €10m per season, while the Nerazzurri’s current offer stands at €8m annually plus bonuses. Inter director Piero Ausilio said he was confident both Lautaro and Barella would extend their current deals at the Stadio Meazza.

Talks are set to continue and an official meeting could be held in Madrid in March when Inter face Atletico in the Champions League Round of 16.

Elsewhere in Serie A, former Roma and Napoli centre-back Manolas greeted Salernitana supporters at the club’s open training session at the Arechi Stadium on Thursday afternoon. It is believed he has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season with an option of a further 12 months if the Granata avoid relegation to Serie B.

The rumour mill, meanwhile, links a number of Premier League sides with moves for a selection of different Serie A representatives.

Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is reportedly being monitored by both Manchester United and Aston Villa ahead of the January transfer window.

United are also reportedly interested in 18-year-old Juventus defender and current Roma loanee Dean Huijsen. RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga have also been mentioned in recent reports.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will consider offers of around €25m-€30m for the teenage centre-back.

Another of Juventus’ on-loan youngsters, Matias Soule, is also admired by Premier League sides Newcastle and Crystal Palace, but said he would return to Juventus at the end of the season before deciding on his future.

New Juventus signing Carlos Alcaraz was officially unveiled at a press conference on Monday and claimed he was not worried of his potential €53m price tag at the Allianz Stadium.
