The Belgian veteran was unbeatable and needed to be, denying Palermo on six or seven occasions. However, he was at his very best saving from Josip Ilicic and Edgar Barreto’s cracking long-range shots. Superb.
Ivan Rodrigo Piris [Roma]
Helped turn the game around and made two fabulous assists, the first for Francesco Totti’s opener and then a perfect cross for Pablo Osvaldo’s equaliser. Continued to push down the right and almost scored himself. Persistent.
Andre Dias [Lazio” data-scaytid=”11″>Lazio]
Was a rock at the centre and saved Lazio’s goal on at least two potentially dangerous occasions. The first from Giampaolo Pazzini and then later blocking Stefan El Shaarawy's goal-bound shot. Unyielding.
Paolo Cannavaro [Napoli]
Foiled Juventus” data-scaytid=”18″>Juventus at almost every turn and showed Fabio Quagriella who was boss early on, eventually forcing the Napoli born striker off. A real captain’s performance and did not deserve to be on the losing team. Solid.
Kwadwo Asamoah [Juventus]
Came in for some rough treatment from his opposite number Christian Maggio, but still managed to cause problems and dominate down the left flank and was always an escape valve from the midfield battle. Relentless.
Claudio Marchisio [Juventus]
Almost scored with one strike and was crucial in blocking Goran Pandev’s effort. Won the ball, and set up several attacks while he seemed to flow through the match with insuperable awareness. Influential.
Hernanes [Lazio]
It was another top-class performance from the Brazilian magician, who continuously menaced the Rossoneri defence with his touch and intelligence. He forced the pace early on and scored the opener with a little help from the unfortunate Daniele Bonera. Responsive.
Antonio Candreva [Lazio]
A revelation this season and integral to Lazio’s recent success. Scored a fabulous parabolicly guided-missile of a goal from 30 yards. Also set up Miroslav Klose with the perfect assist from the right. Decisive.
Pablo Osvaldo [Roma]
Came back from being dropped and showed his ability with two superb goals. His first saw him rifle home a right-footed volley from 10 yards out, while his second came as he headed home from a corner. Revelatory.
Stephan El Shaarawy [Milan]
Although closely marshalled he never give up looking to cause problems and would have scored if not for Dias’ excellent block on the line. Eventually rewarded for his efforts with a fine curler into the far left corner. Insistent.
Amauri [Parma]
A top-notch performance as he brought Parma much-needed points with two superb goals. His first a penalty that sent the ‘keeper the wrong way, his second an unstoppable header from Aleandro Rosi’s superb cross. Alert.
