Felipe Anderson made the most of a Luis Alberto assist to give Lazio the fourth straight Serie A victory and revenge over Lecce.
The Biancocelesti were fresh from knocking Roma out of the Coppa Italia midweek and still smarting from the 2-1 defeat to Lecce back in August. Taty Castellanos was out of action, with Ciro Immobile and Alessio Romagnoli not fully fit, so Felipe Anderson was used as a False 9 and Luis Alberto returned after a month out. Nicola Sansone, Kastriot Dermaku, Hamza Rafia, Lameck Banda and Ahmed Touba did not make the trip.
Nikola Krstovic’s angled drive and a Gustav Isaksen shot from six yards on the Luis Alberto back-heel flick were parried.
Lazio lost Patric after just 24 minutes when he fell awkwardly and hurt his shoulder, then Isaksen got the pass all wrong that would’ve sent Felipe Anderson clear on goal.
Krstovic just failed to get his boot to the roll across from six yards out, but there was a double Lecce chance when Remy Oudin hit a fresh-air shot from 12 yards and Kaba forced a save from Ivan Provedel at the back post. On the resulting corner, Pongracic’s glancing header flashed just wide.
Pedro came on for the restart and blasted just over the bar, while Mattia Zaccagni’s curler grazed the top of the woodwork from a Luis Alberto assist.
Lazio took the lead when a throw-in was taken quickly, Nicoló Rovella threaded through for Luis Alberto, who immediately laid it off for Felipe Anderson to blast into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
Joan Gonzalez just failed to get his head to the Oudin cross moments later, while Luis Alberto fired over from a promising position.
Lecce wasted a golden opportunity with Krstovic nodding wide from six yards on the Oudin pull-back from the by-line, while Kaba also fumbled the finish after a well-worked move.
