A marvellous Olivier Giroud looping header has given Milan the victory away to Juventus and secured Champions League qualification for next season.
This was practically a play-off for the final top four spot and a point would be enough for the Rossoneri thanks to their superior head-to-head record, winning 2-0 in October.
Danilo and Juan Cuadrado returned from suspension, but Dusan Vlahovic had a muscular issue, with Paul Pogba, Nicolò Fagioli and Matias Soule unavailable. Ismael Bennacer, Sergino Dest and Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn’t make the trip.
Rade Krunic nodded a corner wide of the near post, while Juan Cuadrado tested Mike Maignan from distance and Sandro Tonali’s header was over the bar.
Moise Kean on a rapid counter found Angel Di Maria to shin it over from eight yards and Federico Chiesa blasted off target from a tricky angle.
Milan took the lead just before half-time when Davide Calabria put in a cross and Olivier Giroud peeled away from Federico Gatti to steer the header back across Wojciech Szczesny into the far bottom corner.
Rabiot’s finish was straight at Maignan and Szczesny used his legs to parry from Alexis Saelemaekers when sent clear by Giroud.
Rafael Leao sprinted at Gatti and cut inside only to fire over the bar and Juve lost Gleison Bremer to injury late on.
Danilo thought he had equalised in stoppages with a volley from six yards on a corner, but Pierre Kalulu performed the crucial goal-line clearance.
