Atalanta are due to resume training tomorrow, although it remains to be seen if they will, while Roma are only the latest to postpone a return amid the coronavirus shutdown.

Serie A is officially suspended until April 3, but it’s widely believed the games won’t be back until May 3, as the entire country remains in lockdown due to the pandemic.

There have been 11 players so far confirmed positive for coronavirus, including seven at Sampdoria alone, three at Fiorentina and Daniele Rugani of Juventus.

A strong letter from the AIC (Italian Players’ Association) warned against clubs trying to call their players back to the training ground while the general population is still being asked to stay indoors.

At this moment, Atalanta are the only club expected back in training tomorrow, although that is likely to be changed, especially considering Bergamo is the epicentre of the outbreak in Italy.

Juventus, Inter, Sampdoria, Udinese, Fiorentina and Hellas Verona have players and staff who are in quarantine, either because they have positive cases or were the last to play teams with coronavirus-affected figures.

Roma today announced they were suspending training indefinitely and would help injured players undergo physiotherapy sessions via videolink.

Napoli set their next session for Wednesday, but again, that is likely to change.

Genoa, SPAL, Torino, Sassuolo and Parma have not yet named a date for their return to training.

Lazio and Cagliari are meant to be back on March 21, while Brescia postponed theirs to March 29.
