Victor Osimhen managed to secure at least a point for Napoli following a tough draw in Sardinia against Cagliari.

The Partenopei found themselves 1-0 down after a second half goal from Gaston Pereiro, but they didn’t give up and eventually their hard work was rewarded, when Osimhen headed home a Mario Rui cross to tie things up in Sardinia, securing an important point for the title race.

Napoli kicked off the match but it was Cagliari who started on the front foot, settling into the match quicker and having the majority of the early possession. They had a few chances in the first half before the Partenopei finally woke up and had a few of their own.

Despite the electric flow of the game, things were goalless heading into the half-time break. Both teams had taken four shots each in the first 45 minutes.

Cagliari kicked off the second half and kept up their momentum, leaving Spalletti’s side boxed in their own half.

Their pressure continued and they were rewarded in the 58th minute, when Pereiro scored a speculative long shot. Ospina could and should have done better, looking ashamed as the Rossoblu peeled off in celebration.

Napoli reacted well, however, and stayed calm as they pushed for an equaliser. After a number of weak attempts, an Osimhen header in the 87th minute brought them back into the match.

The two teams jostled in the remaining minutes of the match, but neither could find a winner, leaving the game to end 1-1.

  1. @J10B I’m sorry you couldn’t recognise the typo. Fyi it’s though not tho. Wizzdom prevails again.

  2. I knew this would happen FFS. Napoli have always been a team of bottle job bedwetters and their squad is too thin for them to be considered real challengers. Sad and It looks like Dustbinter are limping their way to another title, but just barely.

  3. The secret to Ferguson’s success (and the success of most top managers) was his record against the weaker teams rather than his direct competitors.

And that is the secret to winning any title, and also why the transfer market is such an unnecessary distraction.

  4. @Maldinis Heir and that’s the reason this season Inter would win the league as I’ve saying all along since the beginning of the season. Both Napoli and Milan always struggled against weaker teams and it was only a matter of time they start losing points when it really matter as lower teams raise their level a bit
