Despite Massimiliano Allegri’s comments that there’s no pressure on Dusan Vlahovic, the talented Serb needs to have a good performance against Villarreal tomorrow in his Champions League debut.

The Bianconeri paid €80m for the 22-year-old Serbian forward last month, bringing him over from Fiorentina to be their new main man following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure last summer. One of the reasons that the Turin side were so willing to splash out for the Viola man was because of their issues with scoring goals this season.

Juventus under Allegri this season have only scored 38 goals in Serie A, significantly less than Milan’s 52, Inter’s 55, Napoli’s 46 and Atalanta’s 46. Vlahovic scored 17 goals in the league for Fiorentina this season, so the solution seemed obvious to the Bianconeri.

Vlahovic has started his adventure in Turin a little slowly, however. He has only scored once in four appearances for Juventus, and with Paulo Dybala absent tomorrow, he’ll need to be decisive if Juventus want a strong showing in Spain. Allegri suggested that the pressure is off for the Serb, but his €80m price tag weighs heavily on nights like tomorrow, even if it’s his debut in the competition.
