Sassuolo and Napoli are both known for driving a hard bargain on the transfer market, so it’s possible the Giacomo Raspadori saga could drag on for the whole month.

The player has made it clear he wants to play in the Champions League with the Partenopei and take the next step in his career.

However, Sassuolo set the asking price of €40m and have no intention of accepting the most recent Napoli proposal, which is €25m plus €5m in add-ons.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, this is not a situation that is going to be resolved quickly because both clubs are famous for digging their heels in.

Sassuolo are also in a position of power here, because they already sold Gianluca Scamacca to West Ham United at €36m plus €6m in bonuses and believe Raspadori should command a similar fee.

It is also fair to say that the imminent arrival of Andrea Pinamonti from Inter at a cost of €20m won’t change that either, because he is a replacement for Scamacca and not Raspadori’s role.

It could now drag on for the whole month and that is the last thing Napoli want, especially if Raspadori’s arrival would prompt a change of tactics for Luciano Spalletti.
