There were multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia reporting last night that Chelsea had agreed to release the tactician, just days after winning the Europa League.

He asked to return to Italy for both professional and personal reasons, feeling he was not given enough support from the club when criticised by fans and media.

Although Milan and Roma are also interested, it’s widely believed Sarri is heading to Juventus.

This evening, La Repubblica’s website published video of Sarri walking into the Palazzo Parigi hotel in Milan.

It is a venue often used as a base for Juventus director of sport Fabio Paratici’s negotiations.

Paratici was in Capri last night, but left and is believed to be on his way to Milan.

There are rumours Sarri could sign a two-year contract with option for a third year, worth €6m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

Any compensation would be ‘hidden’ as part of a transfer fee, for example the outstanding amount for Gonzalo Higuain’s six-month loan or a deal for Emerson Palmieri to join Juve.

There are still some suggesting Pep Guardiola is the real target for Juventus, but the Sarri group are considerably stronger.
