Sampdoria patron Massimo Ferrero, who will meet with Roberto D’Aversa this week, reportedly considers bringing Beppe Iachini back to the Marassi.

The Blucerchiati are looking for a new head coach after Claudio Ranieri, who helped the club finish ninth in Serie A 2020-21, decided to leave the Marassi.

Sky Sport Italia reports Empoli coach Alessio Dionisi was negotiating with Ferrero, but eventually picked Sassuolo over Samp.

The broadcaster reveals the patron will meet with D’Aversa, who left Parma after the relegation from Serie A.

But in the last few hours, the hypothesis of a return for Iachini has emerged and the former Fiorentina coach could return to the club he helped win promotion to Serie A in 2011-12.

The report reveals Sampdoria also contacted Andrea Pirlo in recent weeks, but the former Juventus coach refused the proposal from Liguria.

Back in April, a different report from Il Secolo XIX reported former Inter coach Dejan Stankovic had met Ferrero to dicuss the Sampdoria job.
