Salih Ucan has been presented as a Roma player this afternoon, and hopes to be part of a successful side in the capital.

The Turkish youngster has joined the Giallorossi on an initial one-year loan from Fenerbahce, and has revealed that reasons why he decided to sign for Rudi Garcia’s men.

“I put in some big performances at Fenerbahçe. [Sporting director Walter] Sabatini wanted to sign me on the back of the success I had there,” he told a Press conference.

“This is a new adventure for me and I'm going to work hard to help take Roma to the top.

“I'll always be grateful to Sabatini and Garcia, they worked really hard to bring me here.”

The 20-year-old then commented on the competition for places at Stadio Olimpico, and what he can offer the midfield.

“There are lots of great midfielders at Roma who can lead the team to success.

“I feel I'm a midfielder but I'm used to playing in different areas of the field so I can play in the hole too.

“What am I good at? Setting up my team-mates and hitting forward passes.

“There are lots of experienced footballers at this club and I have to get used to the way they play.”

The youngster concluded by remarking on how he will cope in his first Derby della Capitale and the reasons behind choosing No.48.

“You can find massive derbies all over the world. In Turkey I played in the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray.

“My first few days with my team-mates have gone very well, even though I don't speak Italian yet"

“I've always worn No.48. It's used for my hometown Marmaris on number plates.”
