Salernitana are reportedly ready to sack coach Davide Nicola for the second time this season, with Vincenzo Montella and Leonardo Semplici among the alternatives.

The tactician took them to a totally unexpected Serie A safety last season, completing an extraordinary comeback from rock bottom to save themselves in the final round.

However, after a decent start, they have been sliding down the standings in recent weeks and President Danilo Iervolino had already taken the decision to fire Nicola in the wake of an historic 8-2 defeat to Atalanta on January 15.

Iervolino changed his mind 48 hours later and welcomed Nicola back, partly under pressure from the players and fans, but there have been few improvements.

They were able to beat Lecce 2-1 away, but also suffered defeats without scoring against Napoli, Juventus and today Hellas Verona.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this has prompted Iervolino to reconsider again and he is looking around for alternatives.

The options include former SPAL boss Semplici, but also Montella, who is currently at the helm of Adana Demirspor in Turkey.
