There are reports this evening that Spezia are considering a change of management, with Luca Gotti under fire after a run of poor results.

It comes on the same day that Sky Sport Italia suggest Salernitana are ready to fire Davide Nicola for the second time this season.

Gotti’s position has been put into doubt after a run of one point from the last four Serie A games, suffering defeats to Roma, Bologna and Napoli.

They were held to a 2-2 draw by Empoli on Saturday, but had been leading 2-0 after 31 minutes only to be pegged back in stoppages.

Potential replacements include Leonardo Semplici – who has also been linked with Salernitana – and Paulo Sousa.

So far this season under Gotti’s tenure, Spezia have amassed four Serie A wins, seven draws and 11 defeats.

They also won two Coppa Italia games before the 5-2 defeat to Atalanta.

This is only Gotti’s second Serie A experience as head coach after Udinese from November 2019 to December 2021.

He spent most of his career as an assistant manager, including for Roberto Donadoni, then for Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea in 2018-19.
