Delio Rossi is targeting another Coppa Italia final in his career as he aims to continue Fiorentina’s recent good form in midweek against Roma.

La Viola are preparing to travel south to face the Giallorossi in the Last 16 of the cup competition and Coach Rossi – a Coppa Italia winner with Lazio and runner-up last season with Palermo – is keen to take the match and the tournament seriously.

“The Coppa Italia? I’m not snubbing anything, not even training [the following day] on Thursday,” declared the 51-year-old on Tuesday.

“I know how important it is to get to the final, you can put a trophy on the board, enter the club’s history. I do not see why we can’t go for broke to go through.

“I have been lucky enough to reach the final more than once, so we will try in every way to do so again. I hope to see a team with great desire to continue our good form.”

That form is specifically three games unbeaten in the League – the team’s longest unbeaten run in a single season since April – and was confirmed at the weekend in an impressive 3-0 win away at Novara.

“Of course, we are better psychologically. The victory over Novara will serve as motivation.

“Roma, however, is a very dangerous opponent, especially at the Olimpico. [Wednesday’s game] certainly won’t be easy, we will find a different Roma side to the one we beat in the League.

“Roma have moved out of the darkest times of their season and this is credit to Luis Enrique. It gives great strength to the Coach and removes the excuses for the players.

“I was amazed by this cultural revolution because Roma is a club that does not normally have great patience.”

Fiorentina squad to face Roma: Behrami, Boruc, Camporese, Cassani, Cerci, De Silvestri, Gamberini, Jovetic, Lazzari, Ljajic, Montolivo, Munari, Nastasic, Natali, Neto, Pasqual, Pazzagli, Romulo, Rozzio, Salifu, Vargas
