Siena have rubbished claims that Mattia Destro is set to depart in the January transfer window but implied a summer move may be on the cards.

Destro has started the season in good form and after a highly-influential performance during Siena’s 4-0 win over Lazio in Week 17, has been linked with a number of clubs, including Inter and Juventus.

However, sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has dismissed such rumours, suggesting a move is not on the cards this winter even if the player wanted it.

However, sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has dismissed such rumours, suggesting a move is not on the cards this winter even if the player wanted it.

“Destro to Juve or Inter? I do not care for this situation,” answered Perinetti to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “We have made an investment in Mattia. He is loan with us but there is a right to purchase him in the summer that can be exercised in Siena’s favour in June.

“The clubs are already in agreement – there is an obligation to transfer the player at the figures already set, then in June, he will be co-owned by Siena and Genoa.

“From beyond then, all market situations that happen, I am not interested in. In June the transfer will be done. I repeat, discussions at this time are not relevant, but there is the next transfer window in the summer.”
