CSKA Moscow

Best Champions League/European Cup result: Quarter-finals [2009-10]

What you need to know: The Armeitsy finished second in the Russian Premier League last season, ahead of Roberto Mancini’s Zenit St Petersburg.

They were thrashed 5-1 by the Giallorossi in the Group Stage in 2014-15, but in the return game in Russia they snatched a draw with a last-minute equaliser.

Viktoria Plzen

Country: Czech Republic

Best Champions League/European Cup result: Group Stage [2011-12, 2013-14]

What you need to know: Plzen have won the Czech First League in four of the last six years, wresting the title back from Slavia Prague last season.

That record is made all the more remarkable by the fact they only won their first title in 2011.
