Tammy Abraham commented on how it felt to miss out on the World Cup in Qatar and how he feels at the start of Roma’s training retreat in Japan.

The 25-year-old English forward had a wonderful debut season in the Italian capital, scoring 27 goals and providing five assists in 53 games across all competitions. Unfortunately for Abraham and Roma, he’s failed to maintain that form this season and has struggled to show his best, only scoring three goals in 15 Serie A outings.

Speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan, Abraham first discussed how he feels about the six-week World Cup break.

“I’m not so anxious to return to playing, I’m enjoying the World Cup and training for January.”

The 25-year-old then commented on his reaction to missing out on a spot in the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

“I would’ve liked to have been in Qatar, but I think these types of situations make you grow as a player and as a man. I’m still young, I have to grow and improve.”

Abraham will be hoping to show his true level in the second half of the season, which will give Jose Mourinho’s side a key boost in their fight for a top four finish.
