Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli admits Gonzalo Higuain “went too far and he knows it, he was wrong”.

The Argentine striker was facing Juventus last night for the first time since leaving on loan, and he missed a first half penalty.

When he was booked near the end of the game he reacted furiously, screaming in the face of referee Paolo Mazzoleni, and was sent off.

“We did what was possible, it wasn’t a match with many chances,” Romagnoli told Milan TV after the match.

“We’re sorry to have lost, but they were better. They’re one of the best teams in Europe, we all did well to stay in the game and not give them much.

“We’re sorry for the reaction Higuain had, he went too far and he knows it, he was wrong.”
