Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli insists ‘I still consider Gonzalo Higuain the best striker in the world’, despite losing the Argentine as a teammate.

Higuain left Milan for Chelsea last month, just five months into his loan spell at San Siro, but Romagnoli made it clear there was absolutely ‘no bitterness’ on his part.

“There’s no bitterness,” he assured at a Nike event in Milan.

“I still consider him the best striker in the world. It’s disappointing, but he made his choices and decided to leave, and we respect them.

“He's a friend of mine and if he’s happy then it’s all good. Now we have other players who have no regrets.”

The Italy international then rubbished speculation linking him with Juventus, affirming he was ‘very happy’ as a Rossonero.

“I haven’t heard these rumours,” he continued.

“The transfer window isn’t open and I’m very happy at Milan. I don’t see the reason to change clubs.

“It’s an honour to be Milan captain and these are rumours I haven’t even heard of.

“I’m happy at Milan, I’m happy in Milan and as long as I’m happy, I want to stay here.”
