Lautaro Martinez insists the air is clear with Luciano Spalletti after his father hit out at the Inter Coach for not playing the striker.

Martinez’s dad admitted to feeling ‘anger and impatience’ at seeing his son play second fiddle to Mauro Icardi at Inter, before directing a foul-mouthed tweet at Spalletti, but the Argentine assured the outburst was not behind his lack of game time.

“I wasn’t aware of anything,” the 21-year-old continued to La Nacion, responding to links with Real Betis last month.

“From the news I read I think the Betis President asked about me, but no-one told me anything.

“I’ve always thought about Inter, I’m very happy here and I love the club and fans. I try to take advantage of every opportunity they give me, achieving the objectives.

“Spalletti? Everything is fine between us, everything’s been cleared up. I explained to him my father was a player who was born in a dressing room and that we’re a very passionate family.

“My father was wrong when he wrote that tweet, it’s true, but he’s human. He was only reacting to his son but all is well, I’m training and waiting for my moment.

“My challenge is to take advantage of the opportunities I’m given. Here, compared to in Argentina, there’s more quality in games and preparation, both in training and all the details that are examined during the week. Nothing is left to chance.”
