Roma are reportedly working to bring Amadou Diawara home from Guinea, where the player is locked up in a hotel due to the political coup that hit the African country.

An armed group had staged a coup, suspended the constitution, taken the President hostage and blocked all travel for a week.

The World Cup qualifier between Guinea and Morocco was cancelled due to the political situation in the country.

Two Fiorentina players – Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef Maleh – were in the Morocco squad that successfully evacuated their hotel and were taken back to their homeland in a plane.

But Il Tempo reports Diawara is still locked up in a hotel with the rest of the national team due to the coup that hit the African country.

The report claims Roma have managed to get in touch with the player and are working to bring him back to Italy within days.
